A Veteran's Day Ceremony
to Honor Those Who Have Served
There will be a Veterans’ Day Ceremony at the 1869 Schoolhouse on Monday, November 11 at 10 a.m.
The Schoolhouse Museum will be open immediately following the ceremony, with a special exhibit highlighting WWII as a tribute to its 80th anniversary! Please bring a chair, if you need one.
Veterans Day originated from Armistice Day, which commemorated the end of World War I fighting on November 11, 1918. In 1945, World War II veteran Raymond Weeks proposed expanding Armistice Day to honor all veterans, not just those who died in World War I. The poppy is the official memorial flower of Veterans Day.
Veteran's Day allows us to acknowledge service contributions, appreciate and understand sacrifices, recognize selflessness, and appreciate courage.
